Special World Affairs Council Event
Who are the critical thinkers in the formulation of policy for the Palestinian Authority and the PLO? The World Affairs Council and the PSU Middle East Studies Center have invited one of them to Portland to talk about the discussions behind the scenes.
Wednesday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m.
Michael Tarazi, an advisor for the negotiating team of the Palestinian Authority will be speaking in the Vanport Room of the PSU Smith Memorial Center at 1825 SW Broadway.
Mr. Tarazi advises Yasser Arafat and the PLO on permanent status negotiations and was advisor specifically for work on the Mitchell Plan, the Tenet work plan, and the Zinni Proposal. He was influential in the preparation for negotiations at Taba and played a key role in President Arafat's op-ed in the New York Times on February 3, 2002. Known for his intelligent articulation of the issues in the Israel-Palestine conflict, Mr. Tarazi has appeared frequently as a commentator on MSNBC, NPR, BBC ABC Nightline, and CNN with Wolf Blitzer
