Tue 6/25 ACW Special Meeting

Date: June 25th

Time: Door opens 6:30 P.M. - Activities begin at 7:00 P.M.

Location: Shoreline Community Center.

Greetings everyone,

The Arab Center of Washington invites you to a special meeting for ACW’s active members in good standing to attend to the following business items:

1) Discuss and vote on supporting the Peace Camp Project (See Details Below)

2) Amend the Current By-Laws to add “Arab Festival” Committee to the List of Committees

3) Elect New Board members: Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and committee chairpersons.

Note on Election:

Board members are responsible for the organization, its direction and well-being. Commitment and the desire to make a difference in our community are a must. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills.

  • Current Board members can only nominate themselves if eligible in accordance to ACW Bylaws.
  • All ACW active members in good standing who identify themselves as members of the Arab American community are eligible to nominate themselves for the Board of Directors.
  • To be eligible for voting you must be current on your membership dues. You will be able to do so at the beginning of the meeting. These dues help the center maintain its ability to develop projects and pay for logistical necessities like renting rooms for meetings, supplies, and web site hosting.

The dues are $50 / year for families, $30 / year for individuals.

Peace Camp Project:

The peace camp project if approved will be a collaboration between the Arab Center and Kadima ( A Jewish Community organization).

It will be hosted at Kay Bullets House in August of this year. 10 Arab American children and 10 Jewish American Children will spend a week in Ms. Bullets house under adult supervision and participate in a variety of educational activities. Further details on the Project will be given by Maha Gebara and Beth Mahmoud at our Meeting.

Thank you,

Ibrahim al-Husseini
Secretary
Arab Center of Washington
