Palestinian Human Rights, Jews for Global Justice, and Portland Peaceful
Response Coalition) will present the first in a series of forums on
Palestine,
Saturday 27 April 2002, 6:00pm
Shattuck Hall room 212, Portland State University.
Media Coverage of the Palestinian/Israeli Conflict presented by
Ahmed Amr of NileMedia.com. Mr. Amr is a seasoned Arab-American
peace activist from Seattle. He has written hundreds of articles on the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has been an outspoken advocate of a
two-state solution for over twenty years. As the publisher of NileMedia.com,
he minces no words in taking on the mass media monopolies and coverage of
the Middle East: "Our mission is to elevate the debate about the Israeli/
Palestinian conflict to a level that can withstand the light of day."
Eyewitness to Conflict presented by Tom Nelson of Americans United for
Palestinian Human Rights. Mr. Nelson recently returned from Palestine as
part of the International Solidarity Movement's Third Campaign to End
the Occupation, which ran from March 29 to April 12, and was witness to
the start of the latest Israeli military action in Palestine.
The forum will be followed by a candlelight procession along the park
blocks from PSU to Pioneer Courthouse Square.
The next forum will be 6:00p Saturday 4 May 2002.
