What: Protest the Washington Post's Coverage and Editorials of the
Palestinian-Israeli conflict
When: Tuesday, August 21 @ 5:00 PM
Where: Washington Post Offices at 1150 15th St NW
On three consecutive days, the Washington Post published three highly
offensive editorials (Michael Kelly's Mideast Myths Exploded (8/15),
Charles Krauthammer's Mideast Violence: The Only Way Out (8/16), and
George Will's A War and Then a Wall, (8/17) ) portraying Israel as the
victim of Palestinian aggression and urging it to wage an all out war
against the Palestinians. Among other things the articles fail to mention
that the Palestinians are an occupied people, and that Israel is the
occupier. And while they describe the death and the loss on the Israeli
side in great and graphic detail they fail to mention that the
Palestinians have suffered since the beginning of the occupation an even
greater loss.
Those of us who feel deeply dismayed and disturbed by the Washington
Post's persistence in publishing articles that incite more violence and
aggression against the Palestinians have decided to protest outside the
Post's headquarters in DC on Tuesday the 21st, at 5pm. We will be
distributing flyers and handouts debunking the arguments made in the
editorials and expressing our deep dismay at the Washington Post's obvious
lack of sensitivity to Arab and Palestinian rights and sentiments. If you
feel the same please make a banner and join us in our protest!
