An open letter to Dick Armey

By Elaine Lindower

Rep Dick Armey,

I am appalled and horrified by the statements you made on MSNBC's "Hardball" concerning ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their own homeland. As an American citizen, married to a Palestinian Christian, living in the little town of Bethlehem, this would mean that my husband's family would be torn from the town that has been their home for more than 500 years, a place they have lived in for far longer than the majority of Jews that came to Palestine in the 1930's and 1940's.

I hope you will never experience the horror of hearing a foreigner say that they will move you to Mexico where you will remain, and be forever forbidden from returning to your homeland in the U.S., simply because this foreigner has mistakenly decided it is a solution.

I also hope you have the decency to retract your offensive statements which show extreme prejudice against the Palestinian people.

Sincerely,
Elaine Lindower
